Our Mission

We help New Mexicans protect their homes, strengthen their neighborhoods, and work for racial and economic justice. Since 1986, USBC has worked at the intersection of housing, equity, and community-led change—because we believe people thrive when they’re supported by systems that value fairness, dignity, and voice.

Our Story

From neighborhood organizing to statewide change, United South Broadway Corporation started where all real change begins—at the neighborhood level. In the early 1990s, we stood with the South Broadway Neighborhood Association to take back our streets from entrenched drug activity. That grassroots movement didn’t just improve safety—it earned national recognition and reminded us what’s possible when communities lead. Since then, we’ve continued to invest in the power of place:

We revived multiple historic commercial corridors through the Albuquerque MainStreet Program.

We’ve helped keep homeownership high in New Mexico (higher than the national average), with 50% homeownership among low-income residents

When predatory lending threatened families across the state, we pushed back, helping pass landmark legislation and launching the Fair Lending Center, the first statewide program in New Mexico to offer legal and housing counseling support under one roof. Today, we continue to work within communities, offering free, trusted foreclosure prevention services, advocating for equity, and helping New Mexicans keep what matters most: their homes.
