USBC has been helping New Mexico communities prosper since 1986 by promoting fair housing, fair lending, crime prevention, financial literacy, locally-based commercial development, and opportunities for youth

USBC offers free housing counseling and legal services to homeowners who are behind on mortgage payments or in foreclosure.

USBC also offers anti-racism training for organizations that seek long-term transformational change. In 1991 we established ARTI, the Anti-Racism Training Institute of the Southwest, to address institutional racism in New Mexico. We believe that a shared analysis and understanding of racism, its history, and its institutional structure is essential to building and maintaining healthy communities.
